A Day At the Fair

This week the fair is in town! It's an annual event that has been going on for years, but I've never managed to make it. Earlier this week I was lucky enough to find the time! It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day of work, and an even busier weekend of work ahead. There's something about the atmosphere at a fair that makes troubles go away. An energy that makes you feel like a kid again. Not that it was that long ago that I was a kid myself! Regardless, I had a blast pigging out, riding all the rides and enjoying the gorgeous summer weather. Here are a few snapshots!

Have an awesome weekend!

Sunday Sweets and Other Buisness

Well hello! Long time no see! Or no post I suppose. I missed you! I guess you could say that I went into vacation withdraw, because I found it extremely hard to drag myself out of bed to go to work in the morning, let alone do anything else. But I'm back! With lots of lovely cakes to share!

A cute little puppy birthday cake

A girly western themed birthday cake, with a well wishing horse on top

This little cake is was for my beautiful older sister's birthday on Saturday. It's a pretty safe bet that when I have free reign to decorate a cake however I want, it will involve ruffles. And flowers. Love you sis!

And this one was for my lovely sister in law, who's birthday was also on Saturday. What are the odds huh? And her cake involved a ruffled flower! Double whammy! Love you Joanie! Haha
(My sister in laws real name is Jenni. While on vacation my dad referred to her once as Joanie, and the nickname stuck)

This is a little wedding cake, for a couple that wanted something a little outside the box. Nothing says outside the box like a couple of handmade monkey cake toppers!

My favorite part? Making their tales intertwine into a heart!

In other news, while on vacation I did a little bit of shopping. And by a little I mean a lot. I discovered Kohl, which probably has the most amazing sales (I saved more than I actually spent!). I also had my first experience with Nordstrum Rack. Heaven on earth I tell you! My closet is packed full, and I've run out of hangers to put things on. Such a dilemma.
I also have a hair appointment today, and I have no idea what to do to my mess of hair. It's an awkward time for a change. Summer isn't quite over, so I don't want to go darker, but Fall is definitely on it's way, so I don't want to go any lighter... Also a dilemma, but not the good kind like having too many clothes to fit in your closet. So wish me luck!

Summer Vacation!

I don't know if going on vacation was such a good idea. I don't want to have to go back to work, and real life when it's over. We're almost to the halfway point, and I've had a blast so far. My family has gone to Spokane every summer for as long as I can remember. Why Spokane? I have no idea, but it's where some of my favorite memories are. I up till this point I haven't shared very much about my personal life or family, but here's a little looksy into what a Schneyder vacation entails!

This is Riverfront Park, it's the thing I look forward to most when we come to Spokane. This is a beautiful old clock tower that was build in 1902

One of my favorite thing is the world. I look forward to riding the carousel every year. It's more than 100 years old, and it's absolutely gorgeous. We all have our favorite horses to ride. I prefer the one that has the most jewels in its saddle, and my little brother always rides the goat.

The best mini doughnuts ever. Fried fresh and covered in cinnamon and sugar.

Aren't my niece and nephew the cutest? My Sister and her family were lucky enough to come on the trip this year.

My little brother Justin, older sister Jess, and me. What are we riding you might ask? This is the funniest thing. It's a garbage sucking goat! It's a goat, made out of iron, and you push a button on the side, and put your garbage up to his mouth and it sucks it up! It never gets old, and always makes me laugh.

Hope you're having as good of a week as I am!

Sunday Sweets

I'm busy packing for my trip, which I should have done yesterday. But last night having a nap and watching Confessions of a Shopaholic seemed like a much better idea. I'll forever be a procrastinator. But never fear, you don't have to wait any longer to see this weeks cakes. Here they are!

This little poodle is probably my favorite thing ever. It makes me want a fluffy little poodle of my own.

Another giant cupcake cake. Always cute.

This was for a first anniversary. Ladybugs don't scream "Happy 1st Anniversary" to me, but to each their own. I love black white and red, so I'm not complaining.

Are you asking yourself, "what in the world are those creepy things". Ya, that was my first thought when I saw that I had to make them. They're Waybuloos. Apparently it's a childrens cartoon.

One of this weeks wedding cakes. Nothing like some intertwining tree branches and purple cherry blossoms.

Have a fabulous Sunday!

Needs and Wants

What another busy week! The good news is, I have the whole next week off, and I'm going on vacations with my family. It's going to involve shopping, laying by the pool, roller coasters and evening dessert on the patio. Beyond excited. When I was younger, taking our yearly summer holiday always meant back to school shopping. And even though it's been a while since I've been in school, I always get the itch to buy new things before the leaves start to change. Here are a few things that I've had my eye on lately.

I have yet to buy myself a pair of the infamous Toms. They not only help a good cause, but apparently they are extremely comfortable, which would be nice since I'm on my feet all day. I have yet to decide it they'd just look like boats on my size 8 feet.

I've always loved lockets, and I especially love that these come in all different colors

Ask anyone who knows me well, and they'll tell you that I have a perfume obsession. I currently have 8 different scents on the go, but one bottle is almost out, and this is for sure going to be my next purchase. Here's its description, "An alluring balance of vanilla, jasmine blossoms, and an accord of amber is set against the sensual scents of a man, including a light musk and a shimmer of fresh woods?. It smells like good smelling boy! My favorite!

If this is as good as the reviews as it's gotten, I'll be one happy camper. My hair is impossible to do when it's freshly washed. It's too clean and slippery to hold any kind of style, but this claims to "give hair a hint of grit, some extra lift, and a tousled, shine-free finish. Its dry moisture finish leaves hair matte but not parched. It's made to mess with perfection and craft one-of-a-kind, freehand looks". Just what I need.

I have a hair appointment the week after I get back, and I think this is the next thing I'm going to try. My summer highlights are already starting to grow out, and I figure this is the perfect segue from light summer hair, to darker winter hair.

Have a great weekend!

Monday Sweets

Well it appears I'm a day late. And a dollar short, but that's besides the point. Closing the shop on Saturdays always seems like a great idea. It means we actually get a long weekend. But when it's Friday night and it's 11:45 and we're not finished the wedding cakes that need to be delivered Saturday morning, we realize it kind of came back to bite us in the butt. It didn't help that we had to make the cake from hell. A wedding cake on steroids. This thing was 5 tiers, and weighed more than I do. I literally had to sit on the shelf in the fridge to make sure the cake wasn't going to break it when we put it in. And we had to have 2 manly men come put it in the fridge for us at midnight. But we managed to get it done. Here is what I have to show for it!

Here is is. The cake on steriods. Pictures do not do this thing justice. It was HUGE. There's one of regular sized cupcakes at the bottom, to give you something to compare it to.

Another late night wedding cake. The lighting stinks at midnight, so it doesn't look nearly as cute as it actually was.

A fun, polka dotted birthday cake.

Angry birds! I was so excited when I saw that someone had ordered this. I've never actually played the game, but my mom and little brother went through a phase where they played it non stop.

Nothing like a little Spiderman to round things out!

Happy Monday!
