Ring(let) Leaders

I've always been jealous of those girls that have a full head of gorgeous, bouncy curls. It was my sister, not me, who was lucky enough to get that gene. My slight wave and I were always envious. So envious that in junior high we took drastic measures. Oh yes, I went to my mother and said the four letter word of the hair world. Perm. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that the perming went on for several years. Don't worry, I am in no way considering going back to those days. But lately I am getting sick of my waves, and am longing for full on curl, like these lovely ladies have.

Beautiful, no? And you know what they say, fake it until you make it. As far as styling tools go, I personally use my Chi for everything. Straightening, waving and curling, everything. Without it I'd be lost. And my hair would be a mess. But I saw an ad in a magazine for something new, and it intrigues me.

Say hello to the Conair You Curl. It's pricier cousins have been around for quite sometime, but at $40, the You Curl is something that I might actually consider buying, just to see how it works. If it can get me halfway to Taylor Swift curls, then I'd definitely say it's money well spent!

Lazy Monday

Monday is my lazy day. It really shouldn't be. It's my day off of work, which means I should use it clean my house, do laundry and grocery shop. But nine times out of ten, I lay around my parents house, watch their satellite and eat their food. It's my day to spend all day in sweats, and if I happen to pop into a few places on my way back to the city, so be it. I wasn't ashamed to admit that occasionally I go out into public wearing my comfy clothes. Until now. This is probably the best quote I have ever seen.

I'm supposed to get dressed up when I go to Walmart?! This is news to me. And now all of you know to! Lol

Happy Monday!

Sunday Sweets

I'm so glad that it's finally the weekend! This week was hectic and it's so nice to finally have a break. And I'd better enjoy it while I can because this coming week looks like it's going to be equally as crazy. My bed is begging for an afternoon nap, so I'm going to get straight to the good stuff. There is a couple of cakes that I just love, so enjoy!

A first birthday cake, complete with a cute little lion on top. I know what you're thinking, why is there an R in 1st? No, I don't stink that bad at spelling. But whoever took the cake order for this cake is, because that's how it was spelt, so that's how I spelt it on the cake. Don't worry, I fixed it before they picked the cake up.

I'm just in love with this cake. Who knew that some nautical stripes and a whale could be so dang cute?

I made this cake for my grandma's birthday. Please excuse the crappy lighting in the picture, it doesn't do it justice. But I love the ruffles on the bottom tier, and the pink sugar peony

A cute little girl cow. With a bow in her hair of course

I have a love hate relationship with making dino's out of fondant. Sometimes they work, other's they don't. This little guy cooperated for the most part. I especially love his toothy grin. It was my attempt at making him a little scary, but I think it makes even cuter.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Busy Busy Busy

Please excuse my absence! This week has been busy! Work has been a little crazy, with tons of cakes to make. And I had a wedding cake to do on my own after a full day of work, so this week has consisted of cake, cake, and more cake. Oh, and my credit card number was stolen, so I had to squeeze a few visits to the bank in as well. Someone went on a lovely little spending spree, with my hard earned money. Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself.
So it's a Friday night, and I just got done work. And instead of wanting to go out on the town, I want nothing more than to cuddle up in bed and go to sleep. But it's been worth it, I have some seriously cute cakes to show you!

Just a Little Something...

It's Monday. Which means back to work for most of you out there. What a bummer. But I can across a couple pictures that I thought might brighten up your day. Planning family pictures any time soon? Well, you just hit the jackpot. Here are a few fantastic ideas.

Nothing like having your prego tummy hanging out for the whole world to see. Oh and lets not forget about the man with the gun! So strange...

Having trouble deciding what to wear for family pictures? It's a toughy. Do you go with the classic denim and white shirts? Or do you have to choose a few colors that everyone can agree on, and actually find cute clothes that match said colors? Well don't even worry about it. Follow this families lead, and forgo the clothes all together.

LOL. Have a great Monday everyone!

Sunday Sweets

It's strange having a normal work weekend. Having yesterday off like a normal person was fantastic, as was going to see Wicked with my mom and sisters. It was unbelievable. We also managed to do a little bit of shopping, not nearly enough though if you ask me. The day perfect, regardless. Since I wasn't working yesterday, I only have a few pictures this week, but I hope you enjoy!

A cute little zebra cake, accented with hot pink

This cake was for one of my bestest friends, who's birthday was this week. I wish I would have had more time to do something fantastic, but I still love the little banners.

Scooby Doo! Complete with all of the characters, and the Mystery Machine

Have a good one!

The Long and Short of It

I don't know if you can tell by now or not, but I get tired of my hair pretty fast. I go blonder in the spring and summer, and as soon as September rolls around, I get tired of my sunny highlights and go back to my roots. Bangs were good, but the timing was off. I like the color that I have in my hair right now, but my mother had a few choice words for me when she saw it. So with a hair appointment book, I need to decide what my next move is. Since color apparently didn't work out too well for me, maybe it's not to think about a cut? For the most part I love my long hair, but there are days when I just want to chop it all off! And then I see pictures of super cute short cuts and it makes me seriously consider taking the plunge and going under the knife. Or scissors.

Aren't they all so pretty? And they're still long enough to be versatile. Long enough to curl, and put in a pony, which is essential. But then I see pictures like these...

And I realize that the thought of chopping off all my hair makes me want to cry. Decisions, Decisions. But seeing this next picture makes me realize I can have the best of both worlds!

Hahahahahahaha.
Have a great weekend!

Take it to the max(i)

Dresses are one of my favorite go to pieces for summer, because they're so cool and breathable. Which would be really nice on a day like today, where it's 24 degrees, and 79% humidity. I have all kinds of dresses in my wardrobe, but there's not a single maxi dress to be found. I'm still undecided about this recent trend. The right person has to be wearing the right dress for it to be believable in my nick of the woods. Sure, any California beach bum could pull one off. But I live in the prairies. There's no beaches here people. Even so, I'm willing to give the maxi dress the benefit of the doubt. Especially after I saw these beauties.

I love this summery floral print

Gorgeous turquoisey blue, and I love the button and ruffle details

I love bold black and white stripes in any way, shape or form

 Another pretty pattern

I love that this one has a defined waist, where as lots of maxi dresses are empire waist and flow straight down from under the bust.

I'm planning on doing a little shopping this weekend, and a cute maxi dress is on my list of things to find. Wish me luck!

Sunday Sweets

Work this week was a little strange. A new girl started, and it always takes some time to adjust, especially for me since I don't deal with change very well. It was also one of those weeks where, even though we didn't have as many cakes as we usually do, we were still insanely busy because of little set backs. The wrong size of cakes being bake, cakes not being baked at all. Annoying to say the least. But I still got to do some fun cakes, so here's a peak at a few!

Pizza cakes always make me laugh because I think they look pretty dang realistic. This particular one has pepperoni, mushrooms and green peppers

For a special one year old, with a lil rebel themed party

I looooove this wedding cake. We don't get very many requests for cakes with ruffles, so when we do I get super excited. The reception was gorgeous as well, the cake and cupcakes that went along with it sat atop vintage suitcases and antique cake stands

Pink cascading flowers for a 60th birthday party

Have a great weekend!

Rainbow Bright

Well my dears, I did it. I colored my hair. And by colored, I do mean colored. Neon pink and teal to be exact. I'm not sure what I think of it yet, I like it, but I'm not in love. I only wanted the last 2 or 3 inches of my hair colored, but the girl who did it did the entire strand of my hair. That's what I get for going to a strange salon and getting a walk in appointment. But I had no other choice, my regular hairdresser wouldn't have put bright pink streaks in my hair! I've gotten positive responses so far, except for the panicked phone call from my mother. Here's a few pictures, even though I hate getting my pictures taken, and I really really hate taking pictures of myself.

Very pink. But it'll fade pretty quick, or so I'm told. She said it'll fade to a cool pastel pink, which I think might be fun. Pink is my favorite color after all.

Don't mind my retarded face. You can see a little bit of the teal in this one, it's hard to get in pictures, it's more towards the back of my head. But it's def there.

Yay or nay?

Do or Dye

That time has come again. I'm getting tired of my hair. I tried bangs, and I liked them a lot. Except a week later it was summer and they kept getting greasy and sticking to my forehead. Not so cute. So now I'm in  the "growing out" phase in the depths of summer. So any kind of hair cutting is out. So if it's not a cut, it's color. And I'm thinking color. Big time. Ever since high school I've wanted to put some kind of brightly colored streaks in my hair, but I was never brave enough. And my parents wouldn't let me. Now I'm a little more brave, and I don't live at home, so I'm seriously thinking it's time to take the plunge. The only thing that's holding me back is the fear of looking like some kind of punk rocker wannabe. So any of you that have any trepidations, speak now, or forever hold your peace! Here are a few my inspirations, and a few of my worst fears

I love this braid, especially the vibrant teal color

I really like how just the ends of LC's hair are dyed, rather than a whole strand

K, I would never actually do my hair like this. But she can actually hold her own against the pastels

This is where things start to get ugly. Really Avril? Lime green? It looks like your hair is starting to mold.

This is my worst nightmare when it comes to colored streaks....

I'll keep you posted as to what I decide!

Sunday Sweets

I was a lazy bum this week, I had both Tuesday and Saturday off. If only every work week was 3 days long. That being said, I only have a few pictures to share. Here they are!

A little pink dragon cake for a one year old named Lochlyn. I assume this is a boy. But I guess there's nothing wrong with boys liking pink

Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas. With an electric guitar and an amp of course

I'm so mad I didn't get pictures of the rest of the poker dogs! There was three of them in various poker playing positions. The cake was shaped like a poker table, complete with mini face cards and poker chips

A mini version of a couples wedding cake to celebrate their first anniversary

Have a fabulous weekend!

Fourth of July!

I'll admit, even though I'm Canadian, the 4th of July has always been the predominant patriotic holiday in my family. Don't get me wrong, yesterday was Canada Day and it was good, even though I worked 10 hours and fell asleep for half the fireworks. But the 4th has always meant a trip down south, a day of shopping, and ends with fireworks. Sounds like the perfect day, huh? Here are a few inspirations for this years 4th of July.

Red and white stripped lace tank

 Hip hugging blue pencil skirt

Super cute floral halter tankini top

I loooove heart shaped sunnies, especially in this firey red color

A polka dotted hair bow. Love.

I am obsessed with cute nails right now, and I love these

No 4th of July is complete without good food. I thought this cake was so cute and simple. Slivered almond flowers with blueberry and raspberry centers.

Happy 4th of July weekend!
