Products I'm Loving

It's Wednesday! Halfway through the week! It's about this time that I start losing focus, and think of nothing but the weekend, and being able to laze around and sleep in. Anyone else with me? So as a little pick me up, I thought I'd share some of my favorite beauty products of the moment. I'm definitely a girly girl, and enjoy primping at leisure. I love trying new things when it comes to my beauty routine. You never know when you might strike the beauty jackpot, and find something fantastic. Here are a few things that I'm loving right now.

Carmindy for Sally Hansen Air Brush Spray Makeup. I'm a What Not to Wear junkie, and I've always wondered what brand of airbrush foundation Carmindy uses. Her own of course! I love that this foundation offers light coverage, blends super easily, and feels like your wearing no makeup at all.

In the summer I tend to lean more towards coral colored blushed, due to the fact that I have a nice tan. Now that we're well into September, and my tan is fading, I'm going back to a more pink based color. This watermelon pink blush is beautiful, and has a soft gold shimmer to it.

This is the solution to limp, bodiless hair. It's a powder that you massage into your hair, and it offers mega volume! You can apply it root to tips, depending on how much volume you want. And it only costs $3!

I bought a package of these on a whim on my last trip to the drugstore, and I'm absolutely hooked. They're super easy to apply, look fantastic and are surprisingly durable, thus far.

It's hard to go wrong with any of the scents for Bath and Body Works, but this one is my current favorite. It smells like a dream!

Sunday Sweets

Another week come and gone. Just when I thought fall had arrived, and I thought I could pull out my scarves and chunky sweaters, we got a bout of summer weather! Which would have been lovely if I would have actually been able to enjoy it, instead of working inside all week. But trust me, you'll never hear me complain about warm weather. Anyway, in the world of cakes there was some fun ones this week, so I hope you enjoy!

This was a fun post-wedding cake for a couple that got married out of the country, and wanted to have a party with a pretty cake. I love the pale color combo, and the fun star burst pattern

This was another wedding cake, for a groom that came in the day before the wedding, in desperate need of a cake. There was no way we were going to let him disappoint his bride on their big day. He gave us complete freedom, just told us to "do something pretty". I think it turned out pretty dang cute.

Sushi! I love doing sushi cakes, especially when they're complete with chopsticks and fortune cookies!

I love this little cake. It was for a last minute customer, who said her daughter loved Japanese animation. Cartoon cupcakes is what I came up with!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Tights are Not Pants

Fashion can be confusing. Some say there are not rules. Other's say there are certain guidelines that should be followed at all times. What's a girl to do when there's so many opposing opinions? I think I stand somewhere in the middle. I think almost anyone can pull anything off with the right attitude. But there's one rule that I will always firmly stand by.

Tights are not pants people! They aren't. Really. If you're wearing a shirt or dress that's long enough to cover your bum, by all means, rock a pair of tights. But please, don't wear them on their own. You're a size 10? You can't pull them off. You're a size 2? You can't pull them off either. Don't believe me?

See what I mean?
Happy Thursday!

The Emmy's

There's nothing I love more than some red carpet action. It's the only part of award shows that I ever actually watch. At this years Emmy's there was plenty to see. Here is some of the great, the good, and the ugly!

The Great

Oh Cat Deeley, beautiful and golden from head to toe

I can't remember the last time I saw Julia in anything, but this lace, lavender dress is gorgeous, and I wont be forgetting it any time soon

Nina Dobrav is possibly the most gorgeous girl ever, and her bold, curve hugging dress does her justice.

The Good

I'm not sure why I love this dress. I'm a sucker for pink, and tiers of tulle. I think it's adorable

This dress is so different from anything else I saw on the red carpet, I like

Everything about this look is dramatic. From her hair, to the beautiful deep blue, and layers of ruffles

The Bad

 A potato sack dyed black

Apparently no one was kind enough to tell her how thick her waist, and how wide her hips look

A few years ago we had a sheep skin rug that looked almost exactly like this

Electric blue, metallic spandex

Sunday Sweets

I'm sorry I've been so terrible lately. Summer is officially gone, and all the cooler fall weather makes me want to do after work is curl up with a blanket and watch Project Runway. But I'm telling myself that my lazy streak is over, and there is lots of good things to come! Here are a few of this weeks goodies!

I thought this was such a fun way to showcase a bunch of the Muppets, even on a smaller cake

This cake was for a local art gallery. They gave us complete artistic freedom, so we thought some funky, modern looking flowers would be fun

A cake for a brother and sister that share the same birthday. One tier is knight themed for him, and the other princess for her

A castle cake, complete with horse and knight in shining armor

A cute little pirate cupcake. I just love his mustache

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Good Gravy

We've had some interesting requests as far as cakes go. We've made cakes in the shape of cherished pets, favorite alcoholic beverages, numerous body parts, and lots of other things. Last week we had a mom come in to order a cake for her 10 year old son. When she said she had a strange request, I had no idea what to expect. I definitely didn't expect her to say she wanted a cake that looked like a packet of Club House gravy mix. But that's exactly what she wanted. Apparently her son loves mashed potatoes, and what goes better with mashed potatoes than gravy? Usually I only post cakes on Sunday, but I thought this one was too fun to save until then!

Looks delicious huh?

Sunday Sweets

I'm getting lazy. A crazy week mixed with dreary weather has made this a completely unproductive blogging week. I have done some fun cakes this past week tho. I had a chance to make a wedding cake for one of my best friends, which was really special. I think it turned out amazing, but I'll let you decide for yourself.

Dramatic buurlap bow, feathers, and Swarovski crystal studded flowers. How can you go wrong?

The picture doesn't do this cake justice. It's huge in real life. And the bow is a beautiful shimmered steel grey color, not blue like it looks in the picture.

A fun birthday cake in teal and purples

A sweet Little Miss Birthday cake for a special first birthday.

Have a great weekend!
